They just change the orientations of the stems and the horizontal shift of the note heads if needed. You can put the melody notes in one Voice and the accompaniment notes in another Voice. You can have either Voice display as \voiceOne, \voiceTwo, or \one Voice as desired. You could also use \partCombine to display the music, which handles the display. As I mentioned, a short example would really help us give you good advice. Carl
