While I don’t need to rename files, it makes a lot of sense to separate PDF and MIDI output like that – MIDIs often need different articulations (\articulate), \unfoldRepeats, additional settings (speed, transposition, dynamics)…
(It’s enough to use separate scores though.) Hraban
