Thank you, Kieren, for this helpful clarification. I’m new to the language of “baseline,” “stencil extent,” “skylines,” and the like. I definitely agree that skylines should take descenders into account, to avoid collisions! If I am understanding the vocabulary correctly … I think that I am suggesting that by default, markups should have the same baselines as objects to their left and right.
