I would for such a solution to not copy/paste to expand the repeats, but simply 
retain the original repeat structure, but use "\repeat unfold" instead of 
"\repeat volta" to have lilypond do the unfolding.

The 4 lyric lines for two verses would indeed be better avoided by unfolding 
the repeats in the sheet music, but the repeat structure in the music is fine 
to keep for the sourcecode.
