My sending that was less “here’s an equally good option” and more along the 
lines of “teach a person to fish”…  ;)

Agreed… except for the “surprised” part, of course.

As someone who has false-started countless times on becoming a real contributor 
to the code-base, I can personally attest to how remarkable it is that 
*anything* is part of “off-the-shelf Lilypond”. What is in there is a testament 
to the hard work, creativity, persistence, and generosity of those who actually 
get patches up and through the process — for which I am deeply grateful.
