Thanks again.
I remember reading that bend-me determined the target, but apparently
it also applies to the source.
Couldn't find it in the
https://lilypond.org/doc/v2.24/Documentation/internals/bendspanner
part of the documentation.
Turns out I had to look (why? :) in the spanner-engraver.
