You stumbled across a limitation of the current implementation of
BendSpanner.details.target-visibility.
Per default the target is omitted, which does not play nicely with
Beams starting there.
Thus the work-around is to set BendSpanner.details.target-visibility
true and TabNoteHead.transparent true, i.e.

\once \override BendSpanner.details.target-visibility = ##t
