I see like this referred to several times in 2004:

\override Stem #'beamed-lengths = #'(1.0 1.0 1.0)/
However, there is no 'beamed-lengths' attribute listed in the 2.8
documentation. And when I compile using that command I get this:
Parsing...
Interpreting music...
warning: can't find property type-check for `beamed-lengths'
(backend-type?). perhaps a typing error?
warning: doing assignment anyway
