I use the following definition.
markupSA = \markup {
\center-align {
{ \raise #0.2 \box \bold \huge "A" }
{ " " }
{ \musicglyph #"scripts.segno" }
}
}
I then place that in a markup. Then tweak the position (center, move up
or down, etc.).
