following on.

The solution (that is, one solution ;-) ) is to put it in a book. The
prospect of using the \book command seemed a bit too advanced, but is
actually quite straightforward. Use of \paper in the \book is analogous to
\layout in \score.

%verse goes here
}
\score {
%refrain goes here
}
\paper {
}
}
