This seems to be a commonly raised issue, but I'm perplexed as to why my
attempt at a solution (below) has failed:

When compiling, the following warnings are raised:
warning: adding note head to incompatible stem (type = 8)
warning: maybe input should specify polyphonic voices
warning: unterminated hyphen; removing
