Section 1.8.1.2 talks about how to order scripts vertically. I consider
the explanation given in that section "half". Did you actually read
section 1.8.1.2 before you wrote your reply?
such as dynamics, piano pedals,
bar numbers, rehersal marks, to mention a few.
These sections do not talk about vertical spacing at all.
