The StaffGroup context does not have the Instrument_name_engraver enabled by default (I'm wondering why, since it does not have any effect unless you set the instrumentName, in which case you definitely want the name to appear...), so you have to add it manually. See http://lsr.dsi.unimi.it/LSR/Item?id=115 and simply replace GrandStaff with StaffGroup.
