Sorry! I'm not quite sure what you mean by the .ly code, but I typeset the
indication as
\mark\markup\normalsize {Maestoso}
(I had to put 'normalsize', because when I didn't put any qualifier, the
printing came up too large for my liking).
I think it must be the version 2.10 I'm using.
