It seems that it does nothing as well.
Unless I am missing something.

I am trying to do

...
\partial 4 r8   e'\mf
\once \override NoteColumn #'force-hshift = #1.5 e[ fis e b']
e,[ fis e g]
...

but the note does not move. :-/
