If you install the beta of Ubuntu 9.04 it has jEdit 4.3pre16 in the distribution. You can upgrade to 9.04 (assuming you have a treasonably fast internet connection) by opening a terminal window and entering "sudo update-manager -d" (without the quotes).

Still 4.3pre13. Anybody any ideas how to install the latest on Ubuntu?
