I'm setting some piano music in which I have some markup between the staves. The problem I'm having is this: in order to ensure readability (as well as to replicate the typesetting in my source), I want the background of the markup to be a solid white rectangle. I want to do this because I don't want the bar line to appear to go through the text; rather I want the text (and its solid white background) to appear above the bar line.

I'd like the bar line to break just above and to resume just below the text.
