I'm setting some piano music in which I have some markup between the staves.
The problem I'm having is this: in order to ensure readability (as well as
to replicate the typesetting in my source), I want the background of the
markup to be a solid white rectangle.  I want to do this because I don't
want the bar line to appear to go through the text; rather I want the text
(and its solid white background) to appear above the bar line.

Here's a graphic to help explain what I'm looking to do:

As you can see, the bar line goes through the text (in red here to draw
attention to it).  I'd like the bar line to break just above and to resume
just below the text.

How can I make this happen in LilyPond?
