Things can be made easier, but there still are some questions to ask. #4 is not necessary. The lyrics may stay below the staff.
#2 is not necessary. It makes no difference whether you shrink the staff or not. #6 By using negative values for the y value in the #extra-offset property, you can move the chord names downwards right into the middle of the (transparent) staff so it gets close enaugh to the lyrics. Same with the fret diagrams. Stilll usolved: Lilypond still estimates the height of the system as if the chord names and fret diagrams had not been moved downwards from their previous positions way above the staff. This not only results in a gap between the lines, the same gap also appears between the volta brackets and the fret diagrams. annotate-spacing = ##t shows an extent-estimate whose value is much too large (it seems to be the estimated height of one single staff without lyrics and without volta brackets). That is where gap comes from. Does anybody have an idea what happens here and how to adjust it?
