I don't know any better way to enter dynamics. I use
\midi { context {\Voice \remove "Dynamic_performer" }}
so that the dynamics errors don't bother me.
We have it listed as a bug, that first appeared in 2.14, but did not seem
serious enough (compared with the other MIDI bugs) to stop releasing 2.14.
