Well, this is perhaps what we need. I think it would be nice if Lilypond tried to just typeset a markup in a way where no stretching of measures would be needed (as 2.14.2 does) or the markup would be cut off (as 2.12.3 does). E. g. by simply typesetting the measure in the next line – if the stretching of the measures before would still be acceptable. Perhaps with the option to turn that mechanism off, like when turning off the collision checks.
