We just got
commit 922541a6d5ddc5d3494acd43a5f35d0ce07781a7 (origin/release/unstable)
Author: Graham Percival <[email protected]>
Date: Fri Feb 3 13:55:39 2012 +0000

    Release: update news.

so it would appear that it would make more sense to wait a few hours and
then test 2.15.28. I think that the problem report basically was about
PPC, but the kind of API that is causing the problems does not
self-evidently point to PPC. I can't promise that testing 2.15.28 on
Intel will generate new info for whoever is going to make a decision or
change. But judging from my rather uninformed standpoint, it can't hurt
either.
