I'm a percussionist and I've played from parts that behave like the examples Gilberto has given. I agree that the default behaviour of LP is a bit ugly, and when shrunk down onto a part I imagine it would cause a few raised eyebrows from my percussion colleagues! His proposed suggestions would be easier to read and should be default behaviour for LP imo.
