Some things that may interest anybody else doing a Hebrew version:

* fribidi
* bidiv
* antiword

quite small, very helpful. antiword 0.33 can now read wordxp docs.

What is the default locale? he_IL.ISO8859-8 or he_IL.UTF-8 ?

Using the latter can help with viewing files from windows (if mounted
with the option utf8), and generally standartize everything.
