Hey there Steve McIntyre and myself would like to start bootstrapping an armhf based on Ubuntu's sources. We'd like a standing freeze exception for these changes, which should mostly be simple changes to add support for armhf in debian/control and debian/rules, or patches to support the arm-linux-gnueabihf triplet in configure.
The idea is to prepare the Ubuntu sources as much as possible while bootstrapping the port (basing on debian-ports' armhf port).
