Create a deb package using 'deb-pkg' make target (from the kernel source): make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=arm-linux-gnueabihf- deb-pkg Then replace the deb package in an existing hwpack using linaro-hwpack-replace (from linaro-image-tools): linaro-hwpack-replace -t hwpack_linaro-board.tar.gz -p linux-image-board.deb -r linux-image -d -i That's the way it's done in our Kernel CI.
