KDK Ltd. announces its first music multimedia edition
available also for Linux.
What is it about? We are creating CD-ROMs about singers
and groups. Each CD-ROM is about one singer/group and
contains several hours of music, song lyrics with notes
and guitar accords, video clips, many photographs and
a lot of miscellaneous info about given singer/group.
Linux version of the program was first supplied on our
newest product - CD about world-known jazzman Peter Lipa.
Of course, this program can be used to play older CD-ROMs
as well. You can also request a diskette with Linux
version if you are ordering an older CD, or, alternatively,
you can download Linux version of the program from our FTP
site.
Currently available are these three titles:
* Peter Nagy and his Journeys
First multimedia CD-ROM from this edition. Contains
154 song samples (38 songs in full length), 222
song lyrics, 93 song notes with guitar accords,
9 videoclips, 120 photos, citations from the book
Musicross, 8 interviews, info about Michaela
(a young singer Peter is doing manager for) and
a lot of other info. Sorry, Slovak only.
Peter Nagy is a popular Slovak singer.
* Lucka Vondrackova and her Journeys
Second CD-ROM, contains all of Lucka's songs in
full length with lyrics, notes and guitar accords,
more than 130 photos, 30 minutes of videos, lot of
interesting interviews, 10 KARAOKE songs. This
CD contains multilingual version of the program
and data - Slovak, Czech and English.
Lucka Vondrackova is a young Czech singer and
actress.
* Peter Lipa and his Journeys
Latest CD-ROM, first to contain Linux version of
the program. Contains 8(!) hours of near-CD quality
music (101 songs in full length), more than 30
minutes of videos, 2 hours of spoken word, more
than 120 photos, 10 KARAOKE songs and a lot of
other information (Bratislava Jazz Days, various
performances all over the world, TV and theatre
performances, ...).
Peter Lipa is a really good world-known jazzman.
In preparation: Elan - Slovak pop-music legend (Christmas),
Helena Vondrackova - a world-known Czech singer (early
next year).
If you want to see some screenshots (from CD about Lucka
Vondrackova, a young Czech singer), you can download them
from our ftp site at
ftp://ftp.kdk.sk/pub/cesty/linux/screenshots
as .gif (best quality) or .jpg (smaller, but somewhat
blurred) files. From the same site, you can also
download the whole program with installation program at
ftp://ftp.kdk.sk/pub/cesty/linux
(about 600kB file). However, you will need one of our
CD-ROMs to install and use it. Please note that KDK has
relatively slow link at the moment, so you have to be
patient. Alternatively, if you cannot get to our FTP site
you can mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] and request the file(s), we'll
send it to you uuencoded via e-mail.
You can order the CDs via our on-line virtual store at
http://obchod.kdk.sk
in multimedia department / Journeys of Singers and Groups.
Prices range from $25 to $30, shipping to anywhere in the
world is not more than $7. Unfortunately, in Slovakia we
cannot accept credit cards, so payment must be done via
electronic fund transfer or international money order
(within Slovakia also mail-collect).

Personal note:
Originally, the program used to view these CD-ROMs was
developed only for Windows, but since I saw that there is
no multimedia title that runs under Linux (at least none
that I know of) I've decided to port the program under Linux.
The program itself is free, but I can't release source code,
due to a NDA agreement. That's why it is available only for
Linux, Intel/ELF. I don't have access to other harware, so
I can't compile it for other Unix system. If you desperately
want it, contact me ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) and we'll see what
I can do about it. It should be no problem to compile it for
any Unix machine.
