I would recommend Electric Eyes, made by the Rasterman. It is intented
as a replacement of xv, which has some licence problems, but I believe

There's a couple of libs you'll need though, Imlib, some graphics
libraries and the GNOME libs. Electric Eyes (ee) is part of the
gnome-graphics module of GNOME. See:
