Fair enough. It sounds like Word is certainly much more sophisticated in
this regard than I'd thought. I found old versions of Word quite usable,
but when I first had to use Office 97 for something, I found it
incredibly frustrating-- there were a bunch of automatic formatting and
spell-correction things turned on by default, and it took me forever to
find out how to turn the damn things off. Haven't used it much since.
Then when I was writing my message the other day, I fired up Word and
searched through the help files looking for anything on formatting that
might suggest it had the capabilities you describe. Either I overlooked
them, or they're cleverly hidden, or both. I guess I just don't
understand the MS help system... and I certainly would have been more
persistent if I actually *needed* to know...

regards,

PW
