methinks all the servers have something with them, keeps it interesting

that one is fun when used with fvwm-95 and mlvwm(looks like mac) with
another one doing your normal wm. its also usefull for when you need
differnet visualls, something XFree86 does not support(yet anyway) for
example doom neeeds an 8 bit display, and quake does not know that it
needs an 8 bit display. xfractint is another suprogram, as is any java
program with the awt(which needs 8 or 32).
even otherwise there are practical reasons other than to waste your RAM(by
now, swap). testing xlib and new wms. or letting someone else get some
work done while you wait for a download or rendering or compile etc.
doesnt X just spoil you?
