the next dorkbot-nyc and dorkbot-london meetings will take place
wednesday, february 6th at 7pm. dorkbot-austin is MIA. dorkbot-melbourne
is having a nap. dorkbot-io is having some electromagnetic interference
problems, but will be back up soon.

this week dorkbot-nyc is proud to present the lovely and talented:

Dan Coates:
Succumbing to the practical pressures of live playing in New York City
and desiring an expressive electronic interface, Dan Coates (0xdc)
created Pocket POOL, a performance-oriented sample playback synthesizer
consisting solely of a PDA (Compaq iPAQ) running Linux and custom software.

Howard Huang:
Based on the Totally Tone Table technology, Chromatifloor is the
second-generation real-time image-to-sound converter using a security
camera and Max/MSP. Come hear what the Prentice Hall floor and the image
of a bass guitar sounds like.

Hans-Christoph Steiner:
While the ability to input and output at least one MIDI stream, the Palm
Pilot has potential for many musical applications, from a sequencer in a
small package to novel uses of the touch screen to create new interfaces
to controlling sound. My specific interest lies in real-time interfaces
using the touch screen.
