Thanks very much to everyone who has hosted a lawn sign to boost awareness of the 100% renewable energy option under the Lincoln Green Energy Choice option. We are so grateful to all the residents who have chosen to make a significant environmental impact by "opting up" to 100% renewable energy. But while we are thrilled with the community support, we are hopeful that more residents will continue to sign up athttp://www.LincolnGreenEnergyChoice.com . Yesterdays Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change ( IPCC) report was a stark reminder of the reality of the Climate Crisis, as they called it a "code red for humanity". Yet we are fortunate in Lincoln to have an easy and affordable option to move away from fossil fuels and towards a renewable energy future.
It is so great to see all the electric cars in Lincoln but we must ensure that that electricity used to power those cars is coming from 100% renewable sources. ( Did you know that New England still has a coal fired power plant in Bow New Hampshire that is used on very hot or cold days when demand is high?). Please reach out if you have any questions or want to join us. We chose lawn signs made of paper stock instead of plastic. (Most plastic is made from fossil fuels and its production typically results in the release of potent global-warming gases like methane.) So as expected, those that are still up now look a little dilapidated. We plan to come around to collect them and recycle their materials. Feel free to recycle your own or, if you still love having your sign up and don't want us to collect it, contact Trisha O'Hagan at [email protected] mailto:[email protected] . Again, we are so appreciate to everyone who opted up to 100%....consider inviting a friend or neighbour to do the same. Best, Trisha O'Hagan
