Dear Lincoln Gardeners,

This is a long shot, but LincolnTalks has produced miracles before so here
goes:

We want to plant one Black Tupelo in our small yard. We also want it to
flower.

Problem: because the flowers of this species are *polygamo-dioecious*
(e.g, *flowers are primarily male or female on one tree -- but some flowers
of the opposite sex appear on the same tree) **some *but not all trees will
bear numerous fruits while others will sport only a few, or none.

Nurseries do not sex Tupelos, so in order to secure flowering, one plays
the odds by planting three tupelos within 1/4 mile of each other.

Does anyone within 1/4 mile of 32 Lincoln Road have a Black Tupelo? We do
not have room for three Tupelos.

Hoping so, with thanks,
Kathleen P. Nichols
