The crew doing the work, from Osmose, also used a “preservative” applied around all pole bases (not just those being reinforced) by first digging below ground level around the pole, applying the preservative then wrapping the bottom of the poles before replacing the dirt. (They claimed the preservative was safely absorbed by the pole and did not transfer to the surrounding ground—hmmm.) I was also told that the poles were under the jurisdiction of/overseen by Verizon (not Eversource) though the crew and managers with whom I spoke may have been mistaken.
