Dear Lincoln,

This might be the weirdest request ever posted on Lincoln Talks (do I win a
prize?!) but....

Do any of you have old cans of tuna lying around? I mean, OLD cans. 2
decades or more old. Maybe lying around in a cellar in a dark corner that's
been forgotten forever?! I am a marine scientist and my graduate student is
looking for genetic material from as far back as we can go in order to look
at changes in tuna populations. We are of course working with museum
specimens too, but canned tuna is a surprisingly good resource. Fun fact:
The first canned tuna was packed in 1907.

If you have insanely old cans of tuna, please do let me know. No questions
asked. :-)

Thank you very much!

Cheers

Randi
