LincolnTalkers,

Community Servings is an organization my wife and I have been supporting for
years. We recently got this email from them with an urgent request for
volunteers to help in their commercial kitchen to prepare medically tailored
meals for those that are food insecure. If you are interested in learning
more, please read the email pasted below.

Thanks you in advance, and maybe I’ll see you on the line (masked).

We’re facing an urgent need for individual volunteers to assist our kitchen
team in prepping and packaging 18,000 medically tailored meals weekly. We’re
currently serving over 80% more people than in March 2020 – and we need your
help to get the job done.

Because of yet another wave of COVID-19, our January volunteer numbers are much
lower than we need to produce this record amount of life-saving meals.

As always, the health and safety of our team, volunteers, and immunocompromised
clients are paramount. That’s why we require all volunteers to be fully
vaccinated, have their temperature taken, and wear a surgical or KN95 face mask
(that we provide) when inside our building. We also equipped our kitchen with
hospital-grade air ventilation and filtration systems to ensure fresh, clean
airflow.

Kitchen volunteer shifts are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon, 1 p.m.
to 4 p.m., and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Once on-site, you’ll collaborate with our team
to peel and chop veggies, package soups, stews, and salads, and pack meal bags
for delivery.
