We installed radiant heat under the subfloor of an existing bathroom several
years ago. In that scenario (under the subfloor) radiant floor heat by itself
was not enough. We later remodeled the bathroom and replaced its original tile
floor, moving the radiant heat to ABOVE the subfloor and removing the old hot
water radiators at the same time. Works great, our cat has decided it’s the
warmest room in the house!
