Hi All, If you'd like to see a Select Board candidate (yours truly) in action and are curious about what is going on in the Water Department, please join us next Tuesday Feb 15 at 7:30pm where I'll be updating the Finance Committee on the Water Department's status and FY23 operating and capital budget proposals. A few highlights:
1. The Water Dept is back to being fully staffed - and last fall our Superintendent, Darin LaFalam, was voted MA State Director of the New England Water Works Association! 2. We are mindful of resident budget pressures and are proposing a restrained 2.1% increase in operating budget. 3. Pending Select Board approval, we've been recommended for federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding for our three highest priority capital projects, which reduces our FY23 capital request to $142,500, and should allow us at next year's Town Meeting to recommend rescinding $519,000 in FY22 appropriations previously approved by residents.
