So without going into a great deal of detail I talked with the postmaster in
South Lincoln and he explained in detail the problems they are having.

Basically there is a real shortage of help so they have to close for lunch and
they are also having a hard time hiring.

If you want to know the details about why he can’t post the hours the
postmaster said anyone should feel free to contact him and he will explain the
problem.

Actually, the hiring process for the Postal Service is very obtuse - they
eliminate too many candidates right off the bat. Perhaps they should reform
that - but that would require leadership that actually wants the postal service
to work!

It is a national problem,.

Signs saying “we are hiring” are up in post offices all around the area.

We are a very small unit and lucky to have ANY service.

Perhaps our leadership could outreach to Rep. Clark’s office to see what we can
do to support USPS?

As you probably know, there is an appointee from the last administration whose
mission was to dismantle the USPS.

We need to make sure that Congress understands we support a well-funded and
well-staffed USPS.

We really depend on them.

I agree. I’ve been there several times and it’s been closed for an hour. It’s
very frustrating because there are no notifications until you get there and
then there’s a note on the door. I understand that everyone needs breaks, and
to eat lunch, but honestly It should be posted somewhere when they are closing
for an hour and a lot of people have only free time during the lunch hour to
run to the post office.

The Lincoln Post Office branch is randomly closing during the day due to lack
of staff. Why are they not posting their hours? It is such a waste of time and
resources to drive over there during business hours , only to find the door
locked.
