Last week, at Lincoln Station, I watched dozens of happy 8th graders scramble off the commuter rail after a day of adventure in Boston. I hope they grow up comfortable living, touring and working in the City. My eighth grade class trip on the Orange line opened my eyes and changed my life.
And for the adults…here’s how I used the *commuter train* in the last ten days: · Saw 1776 at the American Repertory Theatre (8 min from Porter via fold-up bike). · Heard Bill McKibben lecture at the Brattle Theatre (30 min walk to Harvard Square) · To Boston, visiting my dentist downtown, then meeting with my business lawyer. · Dinner in the North End plus Mike’s Pastry (a nine minute walk from North Station). Each trip was a gift of stress-free travel, two 25 minute sessions to read or watch the scene. Steve Kropper
