Hello fellow hikers!

Our family is ready to take the step from car camping to backpacking, and I am
looking for ideas for first trips to test out our gear.
One or two night destinations, ie hike in, spend a night, hike out, and maybe
add a night at either end, (perhaps near the trail head to allow us to arrive
on the trail early/ or not have to drive home right after).
For now, nothing over 8 miles one way if it’s flat, less if there is much of an
elevation gain) and trying to avoid any or much scrambling on our first
attempts. We have done a number of 4000+ footers this summer on day hikes, and
cannot yet imagine doing this with heavy packs on our backs).
Ideally there is something of interest at or near the overnight destination, to
give us an incentive to keep going!
(For example, we were thinking of Thirteen Falls in the White Mountains).

Also, if anyone is ready to sell or give away any light backpacking equipment,
ie tents, mats, backpacks, stove, filtration systems, (my son is hoping for a
hammock) etc we are still trying to complete the list for our family of 5.

Many thanks for any tips!
Please email me privately :)
Britta
