I use a siphon to clean my fish tank. Previously, I have guided the waste water
out the front window. Yesterday, I siphoned the waste water into utility
buckets and my wife used it to water the hydrangea.

For some purposes it may be good to get a “transfer pump”. We can get water in
the basement, and bought a transfer pump from home depot
(https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-10-HP-Non-Submersible-Self-Priming-Transfer-Pump-EBTP1/308300938)
which works well. It connects to garden hoses and can move water from here to
there pretty quickly. We use it to pump water from the floor into the sump well
but you could use it to move water from a washing machine or other location
into buckets or elsewhere. With a long hose you might be able to move it
directly into holding tanks in the back yard and eliminate the need to carry it
around.
