Hi all, In the past, my family hosted a couple of Afghan refugees and had a really good experience. Today, I received a request to host a family of three Afghans for just a few weeks. Unfortunately, our extra space is not currently available. So I thought I would share in case anyone else in the area has space to welcome this family on a temporary basis.
Here is what I know: A family of three Afghan nationals are arriving in the Boston area shortly, as soon as this week, and are in need of temporary housing while they get on their feet. The family consists of Said, a father and NGO worker who has been in hiding in Afghanistan for the past year; Najma, a mother and teacher, who is 6 months pregnant with twins; and Said and Najma's daughter Hareer, who is 3. They have legal representation from Jenner & Block in Chicago, and their attorney, Sarah Weiss, is their US contact. She says they are lovely, warm, grateful, and exhausted from their year-long journey fleeing from the Taliban. She said they will have support and options for long term housing, but in the short term they are looking for somewhere to stay, ideally 2-4 weeks.
