Could someone point me toward the origins of our school adopting the following line prominently in communications (e.g., every Middle Matters newsletter, all of Sarah Collmer's "K-4 Family Updates" emails, etc.): "Our building is on the unceded territory of the Pawtucket and Massa-adchu-es-et peoples. We recognize them as the past, present and future stewards of this land." Assume it was discussed and approved at a School Committee meeting at some point, and am curious to understand. Did it start in 2020? I found minutes discussing the change of Columbus Day holiday to Indigenous People's Day here https://www.lincnet.org/cms/lib/MA01001239/Centricity/domain/3/2020-2021/201022M.pdf but am not easily locating the background on the "past, present and future stewards" phrase.
