Transcendentalist Running & Cycling Club
Saturday, October 22nd from 8-9am
Led by Rev. Nate Klug

For many people these days, exercise is one of our spiritual outlets. Runners
and cyclists of all ages and abilities are invited to join Nate for an hour of
exercise, spirituality, and community. We’ll meet outside First Parish (4
Bedford Road, across from the Lincoln Library). We’ll stretch and say hello,
then hear a short passage of inspiration from one of the Transcendentalists.
Then we’ll take off on a short run or bike ride through Lincoln. One person
will lead the run, another person will lead the bike ride. After 40 minutes,
we’ll meet back at the church to drink lemonade and reflect on what came up for
us during our exercise. Visitors very welcome!

Blessing of the Animals
Sunday, October 23rd at 4pm
Led by Rev. Kit Novotny

Honoring the creatures in our care is one way we can cherish the living earth
together. For the animal lovers among us, save the date for a short and sweet,
family-friendly pet blessing service the afternoon of October 23rd. The service
will be held outside on the front lawn, near the rainbow chairs, with guitar
accompaniment by Bob Green. It is a great opportunity to invite your friends
and neighbors! And if you’ve got a special animal you can’t bring — maybe your
pet doesn’t play well with others, or you had a beloved pet you lost, or
there’s a wild bird you love to watch — please bring a photo to share! Stuffed
animals also welcome.

Audre Lorde: Warrior Poet
Monday, October 24th at 7pm
Led by Sarah Klockowski

“What are the words you do not yet have? What do you need to say? What are the
tyrannies you swallow day by day and attempt to make your own, until you will
sicken and die of them, still in silence? Perhaps for some of you here today, I
am the face of one of your fears. Because I am woman, because I am Black,
because I am lesbian, because I am myself – a Black woman warrior poet doing my
work – come to ask you, are you doing yours?”

Audre Lorde, “The Transformation of Silence into Language and Action”

This fall join our community reading group as we engage the work of Audre Lorde
– a Black woman warrior poet – and ask ourselves what our work is today, and
how we might transform our silences into language and action.

This Monday we will be discussing Lorde's essay "The Uses of the Erotic: The
Erotic as
Power."<https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5e7cf4825b02c00b6a142f0c/t/5f4bee98ceb27e4afe99bd7c/1598811800640/audre_lorde_cool-beans.pdf>
