I fear that focussing too much on cost could lead to something really important
being left out of the design. It is estimated this building will add $300 to
the average tax bill. If the architects can save us 10% that would be about $30
per year, just about the cost of one pizza per year. I would rather give up a
couple of pizzas and get a really nice community center instead of eating more
pizza and getting a community center that had a really awkward entrance, poor
lighting, or cramped spaces.
