From Dr. Becky McFall, Superintendent of Lincoln Public (P-8) Schools:

At tonight's School Committee meeting, the administrative team will be
presenting the first draft of the FY24 Preliminary Budget. I refer to this as
the first draft because we are facing funding gaps in both our Hanscom and
Lincoln budgets at this time. Over the course of the next eight weeks, we will
be developing plans for funding our budget gaps and refining our Preliminary
Budget for approval by the School Committee on January 26, 2023.

Funding our budget gaps requires consideration of all of the ways that we can
bridge the gap between planned expenses and available revenue. Our presentation
to the School Committee will provide information on all of the components that
make up our base budget and the assumptions and considerations that go into
planning for the FY24 budget and school year.

We will not be making any decisions on Thursday night about how we will close
the gaps. Our goal is to inform the School Committee and our LPS community
members and Lincoln Finance Committee representatives about our budgets.
Following this presentation, with the guidance of the School Committee, the
administrative team will continue to take steps to bridge the gaps in our
budgets, including potential gaps beyond the base budget due to Improvement
Initiative proposals.

Please join the School Committee meeting at 6:00 pm tonight by clicking on this
Zoom link <https://us06web.zoom.us/j/89978060497>. More information will be
provided next week based on the guidance provided by the School Committee.

All the best,
