Sending out a friendly reminder that from now until March 20th, 2023 only
battery powered or electric leaf blowers are permitted.
Lincoln passed a leaf blower bylaw back in 2019 thanks to the hard work of the
Leaf Blower Study Group. We are very appreciative of their work. Since then,
many cities, towns and states across the country have regulated and restricted
gas powered leaf blowers for the following reasons:
1)Noise pollution --Gas powered leaf blowers may be as high as 80-90 decibels,
electric leaf blowers in the 65-70 decibel range
2) Reduce fossil fuel use--Lincoln is committed to a swift transition to zero
carbon emissions.
3) Air pollution--the leaf blowers ( particularly the more powerful gas powered
ones) send all those soil particulates into the air where they worsen air
quality and are bad for human health, especially children and those with
chronic respiratory conditions.

So whenever possible replace your gas powered leaf blower with an electric
model and ask your landscape company to do the same. Many in town use EcoQuiet

And then there is the other BIG question...should we really be blowing our
leaves away? Leaves are an integral part of soil health and in removing them
