Hi LT I purchased an antique cast iron cauldron off etsy. I wanted to re-season it and it has not gone as planned.
I put it into a fire for hours - that made it rustier and sticky. I then put it in two vinegar baths and got the rust off but it wouldn't stop rubbing off steel. I then oiled it and baked it in the oven two times but the surface is still spotty and black is rubbing off when touched. Anyone in town that can do better? Or know of a service I can bring it to?
