I want to thank Ursula Nowak for her post drawing attention to The Lincoln
Foundation's "Bridge the Gap" fundraising campaign.
The immediate need for the Battle Road Farm sewage treatment plant rebuild
and resulting large special assessments has spurred us into this fundraiser.
Following Ursula's post on Lincoln Talk, I received numerous requests for
more information about The Lincoln Foundation and this campaign.
We have updated our website: *thelincolnfoundation.net
<http://thelincolnfoundation.net>* to include details our new donors are
requesting. I have included some of this information here and a copy of the
flyer that was mailed townwide last Saturday.
I look forward to more conversations with fellow Linconites about how to
better support our neighbors. You may donate by mailing a check to: The
Lincoln Foundation, P.O.Box 341, Lincoln, MA 01773 or donate on our website.
Thank you, Terri Morgan

The Lincoln Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)3 private non-profit organization.

The Lincoln Foundation (LF) is a member of Lincoln’s Affordable Housing
Trust and Lincoln’s Housing Coalition (LF, Housing Commission, Affordable
Housing Trust, Select Board).

LF works with the Town of Lincoln to facilitate the resales of affordable
deed restricted homes.

LF currently has four board members: Terri Morgan, President, Rhonda Swain,
Treasurer, Jack Holbrook, and Justin Byrd (BRF affordable owners). We are
looking to expand and diversify our board and welcome inquiries by
interested Lincoln residents.

The Lincoln Foundation’s current fundraising campaign “Bridge the Gap” is
the first fundraising LF has engaged in since 2009.

Bridge the Gap is addressing an immediate threat to keeping low-income
homeowners in the affordable units that the Town created 30+ years ago.

LF has stepped in to help, using our reserves, but we need to do
fundraising to meet the needed payments for the next 3-10 years.

Recent LF Grants made for home improvements and special assessments:

2021: Home improvement grants to Battle Road Farm owners with 80% Area
Median Income (AMI) or less to make needed replacements and repairs to
kitchen cupboards, countertop & sink, carpeting, HVAC. We made five
grants of $5,000 each.

2022: Six grants of $6,000 to owners with Battle Road Farm owners with 120%
AMI or less to make needed replacements for flooring, windows and HVAC
systems, including installing heat pumps.

2022: Five grants ranging from $1,000 to $8,000 to low and very low-income
seniors at MinuteMan Commons to significantly help pay their $9,000 special
assessment for septic system rebuild.

2023: Seventeen grants ranging from $3,100 to $4,000 to low and very
low-income owners at Battle Road Farm to significantly help pay their 2023
installment of an overall payment of ~$20,000 special assessment for sewage
treatment plant rebuild and road improvements.
