I'm looking to buy, borrow or rent  lambs/sheep for the 2023 grazing season.
I ran a grazing program in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2019 on Rock Meadow
conservation land in Belmont and am planning to resume the grazing program
again in 2023 in late spring. on the conservation land on Mill St in Belmont
Previously, I purchased weaned  ram lambs lambs in late spring, from a shepherd
in Lincoln. and grazed them for the season, and brought them to the processor
in October. however,  I am happy not to deal with customers buying 1/2 or whole
processed lambs for the 6 ish lambs that I usually get, so I an exploring, all
options; buying, borrowing (to fatten and finish and return to you), or
renting?  ewes.
Maybe someone here expects more lambs than grass and wants to send off some to
graze for 4 months. Maybe you do not want to band and could send the boys away
instead? I have a fully trained sheepdog, and a young one ready to start his
training  and would even be interested in renting some nice dog broke sheep as
another possible option
Sheep are grazed in field fencing with hot wire top and bottom, and brought in
each night into a shelter within the fencing that also has hot wire around it.
If drought strikes, I would expand the day time area with electronet.
If you are interested in exploring some possible mutually beneficial
arrangement, please contact me.
Additionally are there any of you that raise sheep and/or work border collies
on sheep, I'd love to hear from you even if this does not interest you, as live
in Belmont and lack shepherd colleagues here.
Joan
